Weekend Outlook
Posted by Catie on January 19th, 2013 . Filed under: General .We don’t have much planned this weekend. It’s a combination of trying to not spend money and that cyst that I’ve got. The cyst, while not nearly as bad as the last two times, is still rather painful if I stand for more than a few minutes at a time. I am incredibly thankful that I was able to get started on a course of antibiotics at the first signs of its return, as it seems to make a huge difference in the overall level of pain I feel. I can get up and walk around my house without feeling like I’ll pass out from the pain, so that’s a positive.
I’m planning on baking the weekend away. I sent Branden an epic after work shopping list last night and like a good hubby he got everything on it. So I’ll be cracking out flourless (!!!) rocky road cookies, chewy granola bars with m&m’s, and possibly a few other goodies as well. (Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies? Hot fudge?!) My sweet tooth has gotten the best of me. You can blame late nights on Pinterest for that one.
Earlier this evening I made “Carvel crunchies.” Also known as the best part of an icecream cake. They weren’t exactly like the real deal, but they were MIGHTY tasty. I think the real ones are a bit more cake-like and not quite so crunchy. But let’s be real here, chocolate and oreos mixed together is never a bad thing. (Recipe is 2 rows of a package of oreos, crushed into crumbs in a food processor, then mixed with a 7.25oz bottle of chocolate magic shell topping.) I stuck them in a bowl of vanilla ice cream and nommed on.
And now it is time to watch more Dr. Who. I’m becoming quite the Whovian!

It sounds like you’re going to be quite the baker this weekend. Have fun! I’m intrigued by flourless cookies…what do you use instead of flour?
Also, I’m going to try making those Carvel Crunchies soon. My friend LOVES them, so if I could whip them up without having to go buy an expensive cake…count me in!
P.S. Oreos alone are never a bad thing, so Oreos + extra chocolate? BONUS DELICIOUSNESS.
Powdered sugar, actually. I’ll be posting the recipe soon. But I’ll be honest and say they didn’t turn out like I had expected. (Or like the recipe shows.)
